Homemade Herbal Hair Oil

Hair Oil for dandruff and hair fall control
Servings: 250 ml
Ingredients
  • 250 ml good quality Coconut oil
  • 12 (handful) Hibiscus flowers / Daasavaala
  • 10-12 stalks (1 cup) Curry leaves / Karibevu
  • 1/2 cup Henna leaves / Goranti Soppu
  • 1 cup Brahmi leaves / Ondelaga Indian Pennywort
  • 1 tbsp Agasthya /Agase Soppu Humming Bird Tree leaves (I have used dried leaves)
  • 3 Amla / Indian Gooseberry up to 5 cut into small pieces, seeds removed
  • 4 slices Ridge gourd / Heerekayi
  • 2 tbsp Fenugreek seeds / Menthya
  • 1 tbsp black sesame seeds

  • 250 ml bottle
Instructions
For the Herbal oil:

  1. Makes sure all the leaves and Amla are washed and towel dried well to have no moisture. Trim the pollen part of hibiscus flowers.

  2. Heat coconut oil preferably in an iron Kadai on low-medium flame.
  3. When it is hot, add Amla pieces, Ridge gourd slices and stir well with a dry ladle. When the sizzling stops, add the fenugreek seeds and sesame seeds followed by all the leaves one by one.
  4. Simmer for 15-20 mins until infused while stirring intermittently.
  5. Hibiscus will turn pale and the oil will turn olive green.
  6. Remove from heat and let it cool. Strain into a clean dry bottle once cooled.
  7. The remnant solids can be added to plain coconut oil to infuse and used later.
  8. Store the airtight oil bottle in a cool, dry spot.
  9. Apply regularly.
How to use:
  1. Apply to the scalp using your fingertips in circular massaging motion.
  2. Let is soak for an hour, then wash your hair. You may also let it soak overnight.
  3. Use regularly.
  4. You will have to do this regularly for 3 months to see results. Make it a habit by including in your night routine.
Notes

When the weather is cooler, it is natural for the coconut oil to solidify. 

If using fresh Agasthya soppu, use about 1/2 cup
